This time I decided to choose the familiar character of Doctor Dolittle who is a favourite of many generations. It is not by chance that has a series of performances, musicals, films, comics dedicated to him. The Doctor’s action and behaviour teach children kindness, nobility, warmth and compassion.

In our show Doctor Dolittle not only loves animals but is the only doctor who has learned their language and can always help them in trouble. One day he received a message about the spread of a strange illness among the monkeys in Africa. The doctor decided to help. He headed for the faraway continent accompanied by his true friends, Polinesia the parrot, Chi-Chi the monkey and Gub-Gub the pig. A lot of impediments, adventures and meetings with weird creatures are awaiting them.

You will watch a performance with an unexpected visual language, narrated through poetry and music, close to the child’s perception and charged with sparkling humour.

The performance is based on Hugh Lofting’s first novel “The Story of Doctor Dolittle”.

The novel was written in the French trenches during World War I. The author illustrated it and sent it to his children. Its dedication reads, “To all children, children by age and children by heart”.
